One Bad Day by @EdieHart_ #CozyMystery, #StrappyHeels, #RomanticSuspense

The Plot:

When Tessa agreed to do a favor for her boss, she never thought she’d end up being a mistaken target for a hired killer or falling for the sexy cop who is determined to keep her safe.

About the Author:

Edie Hart was born in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, where she now resides with her husband, two children, dog, and three cats. Edie is a die-hard romantic and believes that everyone deserves to be loved unconditionally—both in print and real life.

Review:

Darn! I’m sure I already wrote this review, and now I can’t find it. Maybe I dreamed it.

At any rate, Ms. Hart tells a pretty good story in only sixty-six (66) pages, and this was one of the grammatically cleanest books I’ve read in quite awhile! Brava!

Tessa expected to help her best friend with registration at a lightbulb convention, not walk around in an extremely brief outfit with a giant lightbulb with long, sparkly eyelashes and a purple-sequined hat on top, peering through net eye holes. Had she been warned, she might have chosen slightly lower heels, rather than a pair of strappy, three-inch stilettos. Then, her clothes disappear and she has to wear the “stripper outfit” home. But, despite the blisters they caused, the stilettos save her life when she uses them to fend off a would-be attacker in the parking lot on her way home.

Grayson Kingsley is on his way home from a colleague’s wedding when he hears Tessa scream. He scoops her up, dumps her into his car, and coaxes the uncooperative "prostitute" to tell him where she lives. Tessa refuses to cooperate, worrying the cop will arrest her for her unpaid parking tickets. But when she finds her apartment door ajar and the house ransacked, she’s glad he’s there. Could all these problems have something to do with the little square piece of plastic she found in her coat pocket? It was the only piece of clothing she had left in the locker room.

One Bad Day is a quick read full of suspense, humor, and romance. There was even a hot sex scene or two. I fell so far behind in writing reviews with all the problems I had with my e-mail and website last month, I had to reread the book when I finally got to the review, and it was just as good the second time. I highly recommend you buy One Bad Day. Read it when you’re having a bad day. It’ll make you feel a whole lot better!

Cooked Goose: Big Mike and Minne by Susan Amanda Kelly

Blurb:

Mistletoe mayhem! Cooked Goose is a hilarious holiday love story filled with sizzle, sugar, and sass.

“Your father called me. He invited me for Christmas. I have a ticket for the same flight as you. Tonight.”

With those words, Big Mike sucked the oxygen out of the room. Minnie intended her father would meet her new man, Big Mike… eventually. Minnie wanted to give Daddy time to get used to the idea that his “little girl” is embroiled in a serious relationship. A few decades, perhaps. Because Daddy’s not your run-of-the-mill protective father—he’s a criminal. But now Minnie is heading home for the holidays with Big Mike in tow.

Big Mike is no delicate violet. He’s quiet and lethal—an ex-Special Forces soldier whose day job involves “keeping the Free World safe.” But Big Mike doesn’t want to spoil Minnie’s Christmas and promises not to hurt anyone. His resolve will be tested by Minnie’s father, her psycho brother, and three outlaw lieutenants who want his woman.

About the Author:

Susan Amanda Kelly loves making up stuff in her head. She drives her husband to distraction by suddenly stopping mid-conversation and staring off into space. She once spent five hours at sea on a boat, muttering, “Where would he hide the body?” She hopes the video footage of that trip has been wiped. She finally decided to put the characters that inhabit her head, onto paper. It was like opening the door on a lunatic asylum—glorious bedlam. She hopes her readers come to love her characters as much as she does. She writes action-packed romantic comedies. And her husband is convinced her male leads are based on him. Not the body-hiding psychopath, of course. Sign up to be the first to hear about her new releases: http://eepurl.com/bIb7G5

Review:

Cooked Goose: Big Mike and Minnie is the kind of short fiction one can only get with an e-reader. At less than fifty pages, you can chuckle and laugh your way through it in a little over half an hour. Although he’s promised Minnie not to hurt anyone, the men surrounding her at her father’s when they arrive for Christmas make it pretty much impossible for Big Mike to keep his fists to himself. The challenge becomes keeping the altercations—and the evidence thereof—from Minnie. Especially when the turkey ends up being one of the casualties. Now what’ll they eat? Someone’s goose is about to be cooked.

Big Mike and Minnie are an unlikely couple. The offspring of rival biker gangs, Big Mike is a killing machine whose interests include motorcycles and martial arts. Minnie is an internationally known model whose interests include shoes and Fashion Week. But, she also knows where to place her stilettos when grabbed for behind.

Short story or long, you can count on Big Mike and Minnie to keep you laughing and on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next. Because ya know it’s gonna be good! Grab Cooked Goose: Big Mike and Minnie and find out for yourself.

On the Run: Big Mike and Minnie by Susan Amanda Kelly

Blurb:

World, meet Minerva Coolidge, New York fashion model and disaster-magnet. Now meet Big Mike, her tough, tattooed, taciturn, somewhat reluctant bodyguard.

Minnie is only one runway show away from being a supermodel. She gave up bacon for that show so heaven help anyone who gets in her way. But Minnie has been ordered home to the west coast by her over-protective, criminal family. Trouble has followed her to the east coast. Minnie refuses to give up her hard-won freedom. So her family foists a bodyguard on her until they can fetch her home. Big Mike is exactly the kind of alpha tough guy she left home to escape. Overbearing. Distractingly yummy. And just like the men she grew up with, he totally underestimates her.

Big Mike takes one look at Minnie Coolidge and recognizes her as Trouble-With-A-Capital-T. Killer face, killer body, killer family and the survival instincts of a hen. He begrudgingly agrees to babysit her as a favor to her brother, an old army buddy. How hard can it be for an ex-biker, ex-Special Forces, international security specialist to keep one pretty nitwit safe for one day? And then she runs rings around him. Turns out Minnie's smart, mouthy and tough. Everything he likes. Loves. But he's only passing through. He can't wait to hand the hot disaster-magnet over to her brother, or can he?

Can true love conquer all? Maybe. But first, Minnie and Big Mike have to survive an attempted kidnapping, stash a corpse, rescue her bad-tempered cat, handle her vapid pop star admirer, avoid her geriatric sex-therapist neighbor, outwit the paparazzi and manage her crazily over-protective brother.

Review:

On the Run: Big Mike and Minnie was a fun read. Minerva Coolidge is a mafia princess who doesn’t want to be cossetted by her family—not even when her life is in danger. She can take care of herself, thank you very much. That is, when she’s not spilling things, dropping things, or trying to run in designer five-inch spiked heels. On the other hand, she’s smart, savvy, and resourceful. And with her perfect features, blonde hair, and big eyes people underestimate her all the time. Especially men.

Big Mike’s used to being in charge. Ex-military, mercenary, he’s been offered bodyguard jobs before. But babysitting the pampered and entitled is not his idea of real work. Until he agrees to do a favor for his old Army buddy and guard his pal’s kid sister. As the blurb says, Minnie runs rings around Big Mike, and they encounter lots of adventure, along with loads of humor and plenty of romance. Big Mike and Minnie will grab you on the first page and keep you running with them right through the last.
